Why Choose AIPS Online?

Don't shortchange yourself when choosing a paralegal program. Expect the best in educational content, placement results and continued professional development. At the American Institute for Paralegal Studies (AIPS), our paralegal program has:

Accredited Programs with High-Placement Results

  • AIPS has an average 91 percent career placement rate.
  • AIPS exceeds NALA's (National Association of Legal Assistants) substantive legal education requirements for graduates planning to sit for the CLA (Certified Legal Assistant) exam.
  • AIPS is accredited by ACCET and licensed by the Michigan Department of Education, the Illinois State Superintendent of Education, the Wisconsin Educational Approval Board and the Illinois State Superintendent of Education.
  • AIPS meets the requirements for paralegal qualifications to practice under the State of California Business and Professions Code, Chapter 5.6.

A Unique Delivery Method and Program Content

Our program is offered via Computer Mediated Distance Learning, a highly-structured, highly-interactive method of facilitating online courses, much like a traditional classroom. The computer network, accessed via the Internet, provides the structure for interaction between classmates and faculty. The instructor leads the class, gives reading and homework assignments, facilitates online discussions and personally grades and returns assignments.

Support and Guidance from Mentors and Facilitators

If this is the first time you have considered taking an online course, you are not alone. That's why all new class sections begin with a collaborative Orientation Week, and each student is assigned a Course Facilitator and an Alumni Mentor.

A Small, Interactive Community of Students and Faculty

Students taking our courses find out quickly that they are in a community of their peers. Faculty respond to questions in 24 hours or less, and peer-to-peer conferences facilitate student collaboration within their small class sections. We do not accept more than 15 students per section.

Professional Development--Even After You Graduate

Your learning doesn't end once you complete the program. AIPS offers:

  • The option to continue onto a higher degree through an articulation agreement with the University of Phoenix
  • Advanced Specialty Courses offered online in over a dozen subjects
  • Quarterly CLE (continuing legal education) seminars offered on diverse topic areas--all designed for the working paralegal
  • Alumni activities such as the 800-member Alumni Association, the Alumni Mentor Program and the quarterly electronic journal, The Legal Degree

About American Institute for Paralegal Studies

The American Institute for Paralegal Studies, Inc. was founded in 1978 by practicing attorneys who identified the need for comprehensive training for paralegals and legal assistants. After teaching on a residential basis for nearly 20 years, the Institute piloted a distance learning delivery system beginning in September, 1996. The initial offering was conducted in close coordination with the Institute's accrediting agency (ACCET). Effective in late 1997, the Institute completed a full transition to 100% distance learning delivery.
