Some specializations require in-person residency and field training experiences, providing opportunities for you to apply new knowledge and skills. Many graduates continue their advanced study and seek doctoral degrees in psychology. This online degree specialization is designed for learners interested in pursuing a doctoral degree. You will develop the theoretical understanding, research and assessment skills applicable to a clinical setting. While some learners may pursue licensure as psychology assistants or technicians, learners should know that this specialization does not prepare graduates for licensure as an independent, professional counselor or psychologist. Capella University offers a PsyD specialization in clinical psychology that complements this master's degree. Residency Requirements: Three week-long master's degree colloquia, each taken during specific milestones in your program. Field Training Requirements: 600 practicum hours and accompanying course work. Note: Master's degree requirements in this program do not prepare graduates for licensure as counseling psychologists.  About Capella UniversityAdmissions requirements vary by program and specialization. International applicants residing outside the United States, Canada, Guam, Puerto Rico or the Virgin Islands are not eligible for acceptance into programs requiring supervised clinical internships or practical within the Schools of Human Services and Psychology.
