Our online PhD specializations will help you strengthen critical thinking, research and problem solving skills. Our doctoral program is consistently updated to ensure that our learners can meet modern challenges in education with today's best practices. In this online PhD specialization in instructional design, you will gain the knowledge and skills to lead and manage instructional challenges in a variety of online settings. You will apply current instructional theory to organize, design, teach and evaluate course work according to tested principles for online education. You may be eligible for transfer credits of up to 48 credits. Residency Requirements: As a doctoral learner you will attend residential colloquia in addition to your online courses. Taken during specific milestones in your program, you will attend three colloquia, each one week in length.  About Capella UniversityAdmissions requirements vary by program and specialization. International applicants residing outside the United States, Canada, Guam, Puerto Rico or the Virgin Islands are not eligible for acceptance into programs requiring supervised clinical internships or practical within the Schools of Human Services and Psychology. Capella participates in several federal financial aid programs including the Federal Pell Grant Program and Federal Stafford Loan Program.
