Our human services PhD program meets the high academic standards of doctoral study and provides a platform for rewarding personal accomplishment. Throughout the program, you will explore and utilize advanced theory and research, critical thinking, and principles of leadership which you can apply immediately in your personal and professional life. The social and community services specialization is designed for counselors or social workers who wish to teach, pursue advanced research, lead programs or supervise clinicians. The program offers in-depth study of major community issues, social work issues and methodology, which will help prepare you to assume a leadership role for social change at local, state or national levels. Residency Requirements: As a doctoral learner you will attend residential colloquia in addition to your online courses. Taken during specific milestones in your program, you will attend three colloquia, each one week in length. You may be eligible for transfer of up to 48 credits.  About Capella UniversityAdmissions requirements vary by program and specialization. International applicants residing outside the United States, Canada, Guam, Puerto Rico or the Virgin Islands are not eligible for acceptance into programs requiring supervised clinical internships or practical within the Schools of Human Services and Psychology. Capella participates in several federal financial aid programs including the Federal Pell Grant Program and Federal Stafford Loan Program. Capella is also eligible to certify Veterans Educational Benefits and can provide information on other non-federal loan programs. |
