The Master of Engineering in Fire Protection curriculum supports the emerging international movement toward performance-based approaches to building-fire safety analysis and design. It will provide you with a thorough understanding of the physics and chemistry of fire necessary for predicting building system performance and analyzing failures. Additionally, you will be required to demonstrate the ability to use scientific and engineering principles to evaluate structures for the hazards of fire and apply engineering principles in the assessment of performance of fire protection systems. You will learn how to use deterministic and probabilistic methods for analyzing fire safety risk as well as use computer models to simulate fire development. There is no research component required, and the program can be completed entirely online in 15 months on a part-time basis.
