The environmental engineering graduate program primarily focuses on water quality systems and water and waste remediation systems. WPI has been providing education in these areas to practicing professionals for more than 25 years. This program provides the education, training and skills to improve your career opportunities in the growing field of environmental engineering. Emphasis is placed on contemporary topics as well as emerging research applications. WPI's program assists environmental engineers with their understanding of a number of technical fields and assists them in effectively managing projects involving complex managerial and regulatory issues. A certificate of graduate study is obtained after the completion of four thematically related courses. Up to two courses taken at WPI prior to formal admission may be counted toward the certificate program. All courses taken toward the graduate certificate may be counted later toward the master's degree in environmental engineering. Classes are streamed over the Internet, and each course has an online component with an easy-to-use interface for additional web-based course content and student-faculty interaction. A BS degree in civil, chemical or mechanical engineering is normally required for these programs. Students with a BS in other engineering disciplines as well as physical and life sciences are eligible, provided they meet additional course requirements.
